What is spirit? I always avoid the deep discussions on this board. You see i dont value my contribution. Its like chess i know how to play chess but i wouldnt say i can play chess. But i was reading this thread and thinking on the subject " What is spirit, exactly?" my guess is its future existence, which is the only form of existence. I think thats all it can be. And yet future existence is always non existence. So i guess with that answer you see why i avoid the deep discussions.

Question for active trolley publishers. Are you told not to approach anyone unless they approach you as part of your trolley training?
by KateWild inif you actively do fs on a trolley i would love you to answer this question.
if you don't but know publishers that do can you ask them please.. are you told not to approach anyone unless they approach you as part of your trolley training?.

I saw the trolly outside a busy london tube station. and i said to tbe guy " ive been watching you for 15 minutes and you dont seem to be getting much interest?" he said " oh yes many people have taken a magazine" . As i understood it from him when a magazine was taken a witness catches up with them and starts a presentation.

"But the Basics haven't changed"
by Phizzy ina couple of days ago in town i met a jw guy i have known since he was a kid in diapers, he is now an elder and must be 40 yrs old, still a kid to me, though.. he gave me the spiel about "we would love to see you come back " , i said that i could not come back to the religion i had left as it no longer existed (a line i got from my friend bill), this elder replied that there "had been changes, but the basics remain the same".. i just was not quick enough with this one, i just sort of nodded at that and went on about what i simply could not swallow as "truth".
overlapping generation etc etc.. what he was meaning by the basics being the same is that nothing has changed on the "what jw's don't believe in" front, i.e trinity, immortal soul etc.
the reality it is that the basics of jw/wt teachings about what they do believe in have all changed !.

You see Phizzy thats the point with me, the basics do remain the same " conditional love" which is not really love at all. At least thats the way i see it. Anyway you need to leave the religion to find yourself, inside i dont think thats possible.

One thing about this site that bothers me
by keyser soze inthe constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

Well said Oubliette " The watchtower demonizes anyone doing anything that could better themselfs, be it obtaining a clollege degree or pursuing any kind of carear above manuel labour" and yet the irony is an education costs money, and its unlikely in most cases witness parents are not able or willing to financially support further education. Window cleaning provides the opportunity to pursue personal goals. In my case it was the deposit on a house and to start my own real estate business.
So in conclusion i find the term offensive and this gentle post has in a positive way highlighted that many others feel the same. In fact i find what i wrote offensive because i think anything hpnest that represents self drive and determination , and the decipline to feed ones family deserves the highest respect and admiration.

the bible is held up by many christians as the word of god, and as such many christians base their entire moral fabric on the bible which they perceive figuartivly penned of god.. so do the posters on this site, be they christian, athiest or agnostic agree that the books that make up the bible should be held to the light and if they are myths, and fiction that this should be exposed?.

So labelling fiction as fact has distorted our understanding of history, but what about the labelling of food?
Selling food is big business, and recently it has come to light that horse meat has been used in Mcdonalds burgers and Donner Kebabs ect ect, when the products have been sold as made entirely from beef or lamb. This is also presenting fiction as fact and in my opinion not justified. Does the false labelling of food products bother you?

Now to obtain a successful window cleaning round you need:-
A)Design window cleaning business templates and stationary.
B) Communication and sales skills
C) A well planned and stategic territory
D) Health and safety and employment knowledge.
E) Window cleaning skills
F) Accountancy skills and tax awareness.
In fact to be Successful at anything is an achivement. Take for example the ministry, few excelled at it. Most were indifferent. A window cleaner has a responsibility to their clients and can be a the only form of communication for the elderly, and those housebound for a variety of reasons. In fact the role that a window cleaner can play in his community can place his profession at the forefront of community responsibilty. Least thats the way i looked at my window cleaning experience and why i started a post on the subject many months ago.

Thanks for the replys. I should add its not just the Bible. Reading " Tje Diary of Anne Frank" the pack of catds fell down for me with.
25th match 1943 " We are told not to make a sound. The walls ate that thin"
5th August 1943. Anne writes how Mrs Van Daan had the habit of using the vacumn cleaner each day . ( these were very noicy in 43)
Well as i say that got me investigating and sadly my opinion now is that this book was written by others based on a poorly written diary that Anne actually did write. I think it has also achived such critical claim its overshaddowed more deserving and genuine childrens memoirs that painted a less angelic victim.

Yes Seraphim agreed. And discussion boards are place for free thinkers ti discuss is the bible fact or fiction, is is truth or is it propoganda. Maybe a combination of both and by what degree does it wrongly appeal to the emotions.
I raise these points because in my case the bible made me rasist, and with free thinking and open discussion i now realize there was no justification in me beliving such noncense.

Dealing with feelings of resentment?
by new hope and happiness inon the main i have found peace with my watchtower exsperience, but i do have occasional feelings of resentment towards some i feel dissapointed in.
i have tryed to dismiss this with it was my fault for putting these people on a pedestal they didnt belong.
but how deal with these feelings?.

The religiouse call to baptisam should not be a call to be a sucker. So its kind of hard not to be a little resentful on being suckerd on that.
